42 imagesIN LIKE A LION . . . OPSAIL 2012 Connecticut started out with a bang on July 6, 2012 as Navy hovercraft left the USS Carter Hall to land at Hole-in-the-Wall beach in Niantic, Connecticut, my second home town (my family's been there every summer since I was 10). The next day I joined the mayor of Groton and a few others aboard the schooner Tyrone, owned by Matthew and Cynthia Sutphin, for the Parade of Sail as the tall ships made their way from Niantic to Fort Trumbull in New London. Festivities continued through Monday as the last tall ship, the beautiful Brazilian Cisne Branco headed back home. All photos © Marianne A. Campolongo. (Please note that unless you have purchased a license to use a photo, posting it or a screenshot even with my copyright watermark is a violation of copyright law, but sharing a link to this page with your friends is encouraged.) You can find framed prints and greeting cards with many of these images on my Fine Art America site at http://marianne-campolongo.artistwebsites.com/

17 imagesChappaqua, NY - April 11, 2014: As of 5 AM this morning, firefighters from Chappaqua and neighboring towns in Westchester County New York, including Mt. Kisco (those in the bucket) were still fighting a blaze in a building that housed the Whispering Pines Flower Shop and residential apartments. All seven residents escaped unharmed, but the building was completely destroyed. The fire began around 1 AM Friday morning, with heavy smoke blanketing the surrounding area. The smell of smoke first alerted me to the blaze. You can read more about it here: insidechappaqua.com! and my follow up here! These photos are priced for immediate download for editorial use and as prints. You may also contact me at 914-646-0702 to discuss rates and usage. I also have several video clips available. © 2014 Marianne A. Campolongo

15 imagesAs our economy moves online, I worry that small shops will soon disappear and so I wanted to share a handful of images of shops and shopkeepers that I took some years ago. These were taken in Talinn, Estonia and Nantucket, Massachusetts, two very different locales, but in both cases the warmth and attention of the shopkeepers really stood out. I hope that there will always be places where we can go to see and touch things before we buy them and more important, where a shopkeeper's smile and advice are as important as what they are selling.

6 imagesI have been a beachcomber all my life but I fell so in love with the desert when I visited Arizona for the first time last year and a more recent trip to Nevada has only made me love it more. The spectacular colors of the red rocks and sunsets were like nothing I had ever seen before, but even stripped of that color the shapes and structure are incredible. This gallery contains my most recent monochrome images, where structure and form is the most important element. Theses images are all available as both pigment printed fine art black and white images and as digital silver gelatin prints by contacting me. This gallery primarily focuses on various rock formations. If you would like to see more of the desert in all its riotous color, please visit my Arizona and Nevada galleries.

22 imagesThis is a rather random sampling of images from Ohio - from OSU, the Ohio State University, to lighthouses along the shore of Lake Erie, to Millennials playing Pokemon Go, flowers and nature in the Columbus Garden of Roses, people hanging out at an upscale mall, and even some iPhone shots of Columbus from an airplane window. I have hundreds of images from the Columbus area and will be adding more as I cull and process them.

2 galleriesWe all know that nature helps us feel calm. Evidence based art and design studies show that even photographs of nature can have this effect. It is especially important in healthcare settings where it can help patients heal faster, improving outcomes, make waiting rooms feel calmer, and help healthcare workers have a less stressful day. This is a small sampling of the work I have available.
