Goat Island Lighthouse
Newport-5907-BWg.tif
Newport Harbor Lighthouse known locally as the Goat Island Light House during the blue hour just after sunset with the Claiborne Pell Newport Bridge in the background, Newport, Rhode Island, USA in black and white. The octagonal granite lighthouse, painted white with a green beacon, was activated in 1842, replacing an earlier light. The lighthouse was automated in 1963, renovated in 1986, and in 2005 the current fixed green light was added. It is still an active aid to navigation.
