Beautiful landscape, Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area, Nevada. Located in the Mojave desert near Las Vegas. the red rock formations are primarily Aztec sandstone from sand dunes formed during the Jurassic period. The red and orange colors come from iron oxide, or hematite. The majestic cliff faces here, thousands of feet tall, blaze bright orange in the midday winter sun.
