Niantic, East Lyme, Connecticut USA 28 Oct 2012 Although Hurricane Sandy is still a day away from being expected to hit coastal New England, winds, whitecaps and heavy surf build along the Connecticut shore. This series of three photos taken seconds apart shows how waves approach a jetty from both sides, eventually overruning the the pier located in the beach community of Black Point. The Millstone Nuclear Power Plant is seen across the bay.
