Niantic, East Lyme, Connecticut USA 28 Oct 2012 Although Hurricane Sandy is still a day away from being expected to hit coastal New England, winds, whitecaps and heavy surf build along the Connecticut shore. Here, waves overrun a pier on Main Beach at the foot of Whitecap Road in the beach community of Black Point. The Millstone Nuclear Power Plant is seen across the bay.
